F.I.T. (fully independent traveler)
As you know, the number of such individual tourists who visited different parts of the world in groups is growing. Now they want to travel only with their relatives or friends and want to plan their journey themselves. And everything, of course, depends on their financial possibilities.
If a disabled person or a family with a baby is travelling, special conditions should be considered. If you travel with pets, you should book a hotel where pets are allowed; for transfer you should reserve a car with a special net to protect the driver from an anxious “passenger”, etc.
Majority of such individual travelers are those who like the freedom of choice. If you want to travel individually, there are three ways:
- you are invited by a relative or a friend who permanently resides in the country you want to go to.
- you personally book hotels along the route and independently apply to the embassy for a visa
- a travel agency takes all the responsibility regarding your journey.
What is the difference between “individuals” and “campers”? Campers do everything spontaneously, while individuals plan their journey more carefully: they book hotels, reserve transfers, order entertaining programs. It is quite common when individual tourists go abroad and are not exactly aware of what they want - to see more sights, to have fun, to experience exciting adventures or just relax in an idyllic atmosphere. Some people travel abroad to meet their business partners in an informal atmosphere. Or, for example, it can be a romantic journey with your spouse (wedding ceremonies or church wedding ceremonies).
Travel agencies promise their clients to arrange “air-, car-, train travel of any complexity and urgency”. It sounds impressive, but you know – there is a limit of possibility. Before going on a particular trip, ask if some large-scaled events are planned there. For example, the Oktoberfest. Due to a huge number of tourists you may have some additional problems such as: no vacant rooms in hotels, no transport for your transfer, no excursions and so on.
Moreover, VIP-tourism is very expensive. VIP-clients choose only exquisite and exotic places, live in best hotels, choose pleasure yachts, charter flights and require constant escort. Transfer cars need to be a prestigious brand - this is also very important for them. Room’s design and furnishing also play a great role for VIP-clients, as well as view from the windows and types of SPA in a hotel…
Currently the choice of hotels is rather wide: from old castles to modest apartments. A travel agency always follows client’s preferences and choose a trip according to their possibilities and demands. Tourists can have lunch and dinner at any restaurant they like. Remember that hotel restaurants are more expensive (if food is not included) than middle class restaurants.
Thus, individual tourism is totally opposite to a group tourism with all its ensuing pluses!
